Mary Beth and I have lived at 32 John Hall Cartway since 2008. Prior to my retiring seven years ago, I had a diverse career with various positions in New York State Government.
Managing Scope, Budget, and Schedule
The position I held prior to retiring is the most relevant, I believe, to service on the Kingsway Condominium Trust Board (KWCT). As Project Manager at the Dormitory Authority of New York (the second largest construction and bonding authority in the country) I oversaw multi-million dollar construction projects throughout New York State and often worked as liaison between construction vendors, state agency and private clients, banks, and investors. I often had to troubleshoot construction issues on huge building projects and client change orders. With the preliminary numbers of the project scope of work at 35 million dollars for the KWCT, I have a depth of experience on projects, at that budget level or higher. I am certain, as a team, the KWCT Board and construction project experts from the Kingsway Community can reduce the burden on our customers, the Kingsway homeowners.
Additional Background
After college, I served as a police officer for the State University system, then spent a number of years as a forensic investigator for the New York State Inspector General, pursuing investigations against state employees accused of fraud and corruption, especially in the area of construction fraud in New York City.
I have always been active in community service and volunteer organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and American Red Cross. At the Boy Scouts, I volunteered as a merit badge instructor and scout mentor for numerous badges, including Citizenship and Communications. I served on the Board for Troop 34 in Niskayuna, New York and helped chair fundraising efforts as well as evaluating Eagle Scout candidates. At the American Red Cross, I volunteered to help coordinate data banks and volunteers for both day-to-day operational functions, and crisis situations. Currently I serve as a Board Trustee for the Schenectady County Public Library in Schenectady, New York. The Library has a multimillion-dollar budget managed by the Board. With a strong technical background and years of experience in managing information to clients, I hope to bring the KWCT Board more up-to-date with regards to information distribution via online resources, document accessibility and greater transparency on project information to homeowners.
